Hi, I'm Karen :)

I hate writing About Me sections, but I like reading everyone else's so I'll try my best for you.

I love everything that involves words or music, too much food, summertime, traveling when money permits, modern minimalist decorating (on that same condition), making lists, the color pink, any beach, little people, shoes, coffee, wine, long hot baths, taking pictures, photo-booking, ice cream, Halloween, New Years Eve, activism, new experiences, anything comedy, staring at my phone and sleeping. I really like sleeping.

I'm the smitten wife of Jon Callahan, my love for seven years. He thinks my obnoxious laugh is one of the best things in the world. <blushes> I still stare at him like a weirdo and thank him for marrying me. He's VP of a watch retailer in Cleveland, a web designer and former food blogger. He loves basketball, computers, political science, cooking (lucky me) and is a movie quote extraordinaire. We've been through better and worse. We've been around the country. We love our TV, and afternoon drives, and California. He is indeed my very best friend.

I'm a nanny who has studied and worked with babies and children professionally for most of a decade. I've now been with 6yo N & 3yo N♥ for three of those years, two of which have largely included friends 5yo M & 2yo C. The love I have for these kids is overwhelming, they've made my life rich and I talk about all of them constantly. I try to share more of their stories along with some past adventures on Tumblr as The Cleveland Nanny, and I've had multiple tweets on The Huffington Post and NickMom.

I love CLE. When we got married my husband and I moved from our country hometown and into the suburbs. Unfortunately I hate winter, but I adore downtown, Shaker Heights, hipster neighborhoods and sunny days by the lake. It's a small charming urban experience and an incredible city for foodies. We also love being surrounded by our roots, within miles of the family and friends we grew up with.

A couple years left until 30 and life just keeps getting more interesting. I'll probably be blogging a lot about finding a house, starting a family, and everything in general around this stage of life. Also nonsense. Lots of that.

Warning: May contain occasional sarcasm, snark, slang, randomness, liberal politics. I'm guilty of lots of CAPS, italics, ellipsis... all that stuff in attempt to get my point across.

It's a blog, it's relaxed.

I'm awkward, anxious, I like to be silly. I keep it real. I hate dishonesty. I'm a big nerd about things and will go on and on about them. I can't stand "mouth noises" and I'm not good at putting away laundry. Also, I'm aware that my font makes exclamation points look like lowercase L's, it's really annoying and I'll try and fix it (looking for a similar font, I'm font picky) I'm starting to ramble. Is this a good About Me?
